Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content

Last time me and my collegue saw at a certain moment on a lot of sharepoint environment this error in the eventviewer:

"Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content"

The result was that the searchengine couldn’t crawl through the sharepoint sites. We found this strange because we even modified are content access account into domain admins, no luck.
After searching google for a long time we found the solution on http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/896861

Method 2: Disable the loopback check

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
  3. Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type DisableLoopbackCheck, and then press ENTER
